Electronic newslettersThere are a whole range of electronic newsletters and update services available which report on research. Here are a few which have come to our attention. If you know of any more which should be listed here please email info@nerf-uk.orgThe NCSL newsletter http://www.ldr-magazine.co.uk Monthly newsletter containing news on school leadership issues, features, current research, book reviews, local and central government plans relating to schools, news from conferences and a regular opinion page. Edweek (US) http://www.edweek.org/ew/ Weekly online education newspaper featuring all current news in American education. Access to all government white papers available online as well as research articles. EdResearch Online (Australia) http://cunningham.acer.edu.au/dbtw-wpd/sample/edresearch_about.htm Regular email notifications of updates (new research etc) on Edlib (an online subset of the Australian Education Index). AUT updates http://www.aut.org.uk Regular email notifications from the AUT (The Higher Education Union) on current news and changes to the AUT website. Teacher Magazine On the Web (US) http://www.teachermagazine.org/ Monthly online magazine aimed specifically at American teachers. Contains current jobs, features, details of events, book reviews, downloadable reports and details of available grants. NFER updates http://www.nfer.ac.uk/whatsnew/newsform.asp Regular email updates from NFER. Users are able to select which areas they are interested in and would like to receive news of. They are also able to specify the type of information they would prefer to receive (e.g. research summaries, research outlines, press releases, conference papers etc.). Publications from Ofsted www.ofsted.gov.uk/mailinglist/index.cfm Regular email updates of changes to the Ofsted website that users are interested in (which they are able to specify). Users can be kept informed of press releases, job vacancies, new publications, news and inspection reports. They can also select up to three LEA’s of interest and the type of school (e.g. primary, secondary etc.). NTL News www.literacytrust.org.uk NTL News is a regular online newsletter providing updates of news on the National Literacy Trust, the National Reading Campaign, Reading is fundamental and other Trust initiatives. Job vacancies, current research news, book reviews and regular features are all available. PERN http://www.dundee.ac.uk/psychology/ParentsInEducation Parents in Education Research Network is an association of individuals and organisations concerned with the promotion, dissemination and use of research about the participation of parents, families and other carers in the education of children. Membership is available free by subscribing to the electronic newsletter Parents in Education. In addition, PERN offers regional conferences and a register of researchers and practitioners. TLRP http://www.tlrp.org.uk Free online newsletter outlining details of TLRP projects, news, job vacancies and research articles. Users are able to specify which projects they are interested in and their own personal areas of interest and expertise. SCRE http://www.scre.ac.uk Regular email updates from SCRE (Scottish Council for Research in Education) providing information on research papers, other newsletters, report summaries, briefing papers and details of conferences and other events. Joseph Rountree Foundation Mailing lists www.Jrf.org.uk Findings and Foundations mailing lists Users can join any of four Findings mailing lists to receive notification of the latest Findings and Foundations published on the site. Research mailing list Whenever JRF’s research priorities change, or they put out new calls for proposals, users receive notification. Press release mailing list Users working for a recognised publication can receive all the latest JRF press releases. Parent News (US) http://npin.org/pnews.html A bimonthly electronic magazine from the National Parent Information Network with news, information, and resources for parents and those who work with parents. AskERIC update newletter http://www.askeric.org/NewNote/Updates/ A monthly electronic newsletter to keep users up-to-date on the latest additions to the web site and services. AskERIC is a personalised Internet-based service providing education information to teachers, librarians, counsellors, administrators, parents, and anyone interested in education throughout the United States and the world. It includes a resource collection, a question and answer service as well as a database search engine and helpful lesson plans and information for teachers. Skills and Education network http://senet.lsc.gov.uk/newsletter/newsletter.cfm A monthly electroinc newsletter and network reporting on education and employer research and policy developments. Articles are written in bite size chunks and include for example "2 minute" research reviews. |
