About the Bulletin
Evidence for teaching and learning
NERF Bulletin: Evidence for teaching and learning research publication was produced for practitioners from all phases of education. It addressed issues of relevance across the whole education spectrum - nursery, primary and secondary schools, colleges, adult education centres and teacher training.
Using the best available research evidence, the Bulletin was written by The Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education (CUREE), whose aim was to support and develop effective use of research to help improve practice and raise standards. Articles were written in a concise, one-page format, in plain English. Topics were chosen for reference after consultation with tender groups. Research iwas selected using a quality appraisal as framework.
Evaluation
NFER evaluated the NERF Bulletin in 2004/05. It was seen positively by teachers and added appropriately to the range of research communications.
Funding
The Bulletin was funded by NERF with the support of the Innovation Unit at the Department for Education and Skills and the General Teaching Council for England (GTCe).

MORI teachers' omnibus survey - teachers' views of research
NERF commissioned two questions on teachers' use of research in the second wave of the 2004 MORI omnibus survey of teachers. The findings show that most teachers surveyed used published research evidence to inform their practice - and would find a hard copy evidence bulletin useful. Click here to access the report.
