EventsThe Development Group arranged regular events for members, many of which were available for non-members to attend as well. Here are summaries of events held in the last year of NERF– with links to more information where available. Sharing Future Research Agendas In October 2005 a workshop was held to discuss how best to share future developing plans or ideas for research. This was a follow-up from the successful workshop held in June 2005 which looked at priorities and programmes. A working paper summarising information on current projects and priorities from the first workshop is available on the NERF website. This now includes a summary of the workshop discussions and is available at http://www.nerf-uk.org/publicationsnetworks/workingpapers/ Research Communication: Resources and Services Participants from a wide range of organisations including government, national agencies, charities, professional associations, and research institutes (representing the school phase through to post 16) attended a Development Group workshop organised in collaboration with the National Teacher Research Panel (NTRP) in November 2005. The aim of the workshop was to share information on research resources currently produced for practitioners and to think about possible ways of joined up working in the future. A number of useful follow-up actions and activities were agreed by participants. These included a research resources poster for schools and colleges, establishing a contact group for those in the field of producing/funding research resources, plus the creation of a forward look for research resources for practice (similar to NERF's forward look for new research). Really useful evaluation! A joint workshop with NERF and LSDA on evaluation asked if there were practical, feasible and methodologically productive ways for an evaluation to engage with and be used by stakeholders. It explored the practical aspects of conducting evaluations for and with participants, and discussed how to bring together and engage researcher, practitioner and commissioner in producing really useful evaluations. The event was held on 9th December 2005. Notes of the event are available here |
