What is the research warrant? … or why should we trust the research?
|
|
Some people talk of the 'research warrant'. The research warrant can be thought of as the sum of the quality of the research and the validity of the evidence. It is what makes the claims made by the research believable.
For a piece of research to have a strong warrant its conclusions will:
- be based on sound evidence collected and analysed in a robust manner.
- be logically arrived at from the evidence presented.
- Demonstrate an awareness of, and rule out, other plausible explanations for the results.
