Where will you find evidence?
|
|
eep was set up to help you access freely available research evidence.
eep can help you navigate the large and ever growing body of evidence related to education. A lot of this evidence comes from structured evaluation and research activities, that have been commissioned, sponsored or made available via Government departments, Agencies, Universities and Research Institutes, not-for profit organisations, single issue groups and the private sector.
Deciding where to look for evidence depends on:
- What type of evidence you want – Academic? Practice based? Reviews of evidence?
- Whether you aim to be exhaustive or focussed
- Do you need to find all the evidence ever published or will the most recent do?
- Do you want to find international evidence or just evidence from the UK?
- Is it useful to know about what others have tried with other age groups or just with the age of young person you work with?
- What you already know – do you already know key organisations or the names of key authors?
There are two types of place you can find research evidence – sources and resources. Sources focus on the publications of one organisation whereas resources tend to pool together, in one place, evidence from a range of evidence sources considered most relevant to a particular topic or user group.
